Les activités de recherche du LMEEVED conduites durant les quatre dernières années, dans le cadre du contrat programme 2010-2013, consistent en deux axes distincts et pertinents se rapportant respectivement à l’énergie éolienne et à la valorisation énergétique des déchets. La pertinence de ces deux thématiques se justifie parfaitement aussi bien par la montée des prix des énergies conventionnelles et leurs retombées socio-économiques que par l’augmentation rapide de la consommation de ces ressources énergétiques et ses conséquences environnementales. A ces deux programmes de recherche s'ajoute un nouvel programme concernant l'efficacité énergétique dans les bâtiments. Les activités de recherche de cet axe s’inscrivent dans le cadre de la maitrise de la consommation énergétique dans les bâtiments tunisiens et font également appel à l’utilisation des énergies renouvelables, notamment l’énergie solaire ainsi que l'énergie éolienne et la valorisation des déchets dans le domaine de l'habitat.
Les principaux objectifs découlant de ces 3 axes de recherche font partie intégrante des objectifs du CRTEn. Outre qu’il est censé contribuer au développement des connaissances scientifiques dans les domaines de l’énergie éolienne, de la valorisation énergétique des déchets et de l'efficacité énergétique dans les bâtiments, le LMEEVED serait appelé à mener des recherches originales destinées à développer des technologies innovantes et appropriées susceptibles d’être intégrées dans le milieu socio-économique tunisien.
