Le LaNSER dérive du Laboratoire de Photovoltaïque (LPV). C’est un laboratoire multidisciplinaire couvrant un large spectre de domaines scientifiques liés aux énergies renouvelables et à l’environnement. Le LaNSER comprend des physiciens, des chimistes, des spécialistes en génie des procédés et en génie électrique.
Compte tenu de cette pluridisciplinarité, nous développerons des projets de recherche liés à l’application des nanomatériaux dans le photovoltaïque, l’environnement et les capteurs chimiques et biologiques. Durant la période 201 - 2018, le LaNSER continuera certaines actions entamées durant la période 2010 -2013 et lancera de nouvelles thématiques de recherche stratégiques.
Le LaNSER s‘occupera de la mise au point de nanomatériaux hybrides photosensibles destinées à des applications photovoltaïques, partant de la synthèse vers les caractérisations physicochimiques. Le LaNSER projette réaliser deux types cellules photovoltaïques : les cellules de troisième génération à base de cœur coquille et les cellules à colorant.
La grande expérience acquise dans le développement des nanomatériaux par l’utilisation de différentes techniques, comme le sol-gel, le spin-coating, le spray dip-coating et l’électrochimie.
Le LaNSER a déjà démarré (au sein du LPV) un projet européen (ETRERA) durant la période 2010 - 2013. Ce projet a permis de créer une équipe de jeunes chercheurs travaillant sur le développement des membranes pour les piles à combustible fonctionnant à l’hydrogène ou au méthanol. Actuellement, trois thèmes de recherche sont entrain d’être développés autour de cet axe : la modification des membranes à Nafion afin d’augmenter la température de fonctionnement et la durée de vie des membranes, l’étude et l’utilisation des piles à combustible fonctionnant au méthanol, et la réduction du catalyseur en platine utilisé dans les électrodes de la pile à combustible.
